Australia's Pacific guest worker scheme.

The Australian Government has announced a three year guest worker scheme for the people of Kiribati, Tonga, Vanuatu and Papua New Guinea. Nearly 2,500 people will be allowed to work for 7 months in any given 12 months period. These workers are in need for assisting the farmers in picking fruits and harvesting vegetables. The salary will be equal to the Australian laborers. Those who want to recruit these workers must proof that they have difficult in finding local workers. Then only they will be allowed to recruit workers to assist them. This pilot program will kick start in the later part of this year. The program will be reviewed after a period of 18 months.
